About Community Service Learning:

Community Service Learning (CSL) integrates learning with the needs of the community. Students participate in volunteer activities that benefit others while enhancing or reinforcing classroom learning. CSL partners are non-profit organizations, government agencies, schools and businesses.

Activities can involve a small group of students or a whole class. Both one-time and continuing projects are possible. Projects can last a few weeks, a few months or can expand across the entire school year. Teachers sometimes choose to connect a series of service learning efforts with a common theme, such as civic responsibility or community awareness.

CSL benefits everyone by bringing the schools and the communities together. Many CSL projects have been developed at ABRHS, R.J. Grey Junior High, Acton Public Schools and Blanchard Memorial School in Boxborough.
