New Student Registration Process and Forms
WELCOME!
Once you have settled in the Acton or Boxborough area, our Counseling Department Secretary, at 978 264-4700 x 3430 to schedule an appointment to begin the registration process. You may download the necessary forms here or complete the forms during your appointment at the high school. Before contacting us, please read the following information to help clarify the process.
Registration Forms, Student Documents, and Proof of Residency:
Please print out and fill in the following four registration forms - one each per child:
- Personal Data Sheet
- Release of Records Form
- Race, Low Income & Immigrant Status Form
- Home Language Survey Form/Admission Form
Please bring copies of the following student documents - one each per child.
- Copy of birth certificate OR passport
- Copy of current immunization record and physical examination (within the last year) Local Health Services available if needed
- Copies any previous school records
- Copies of report cards or transcripts
- Any current IEP or 504 Documentation
- MCAS Scores if moving from within the state of MA
Proof of residency in Acton or Boxborough - at least one of the following:
- Copy of Purchase and Sale
- Copy of Lease Agreement
- Copy of Occupancy Permit
- Copy of Utility Bill-not telephone
After our secretary has reviewed the necessary documentation and paperwork, a date will be set for you and your student to meet with one of our counselors for a registration meeting.
Registration Meeting Format:
The Registration Meeting with the Counselor will last approximately 40 minutes. Also, families and students should plan on allowing at least 2 hours following the registration meeting for the Math, English, and World Language placement exams. At the Registration Meeting the following will occur:
- Counselor reviews Registration Forms
- Counselor reviews Student Documents and Proof of Residency
- Counselor gives an overview of the school
- Graduation Requirements
- Typical Day at ABRHS
- Clubs and Activities
- Class and Homework Expectations
- Quick Tour of school if time allows
- Student Handbook, Program of Studies, Preliminary Course Selection
- Question and Answers
Student takes the necessary placement exams and completes World Language Department Placement Questionnaire.
Counselor gives an overview of electronic resources
- Bus Routes drop off and pick up
- ABRHS Website - Teacher websites, calendar, etc.
- Free and reduced lunch application
Final course selection will be contingent on placement exam results.
